This seems to be a real problem to many with Vista, incoming mail is not a
problem but when I try to send, I get the following error message:-
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Fw: RE: amazing!
Sandcastles', Account: '(e-mail address removed)', Server: 'smtp.tele2.fr',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 570, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0E
Is there a solve all solution out there? or am i asking too much

To be more accurate, there seems to be a real problem
with Norton and McAfee. Are you one of their victims?

Another common problem is users not setting up their mail account properly.
Port 570 is an unusual one for SMTP service. Are you sure it's correct?

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Beside that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
should be uninstalled.

Thanks for that but when I spoke to the Windows Virtual Technician, he
confirm that was the correct Port.
I have McAfee but if I switch it off because of non compatablility, what
protection will that leave me with?
Sorry what is EML? I am really not too "aufait" with all these abbreviations.

I seem to have the same problem. I also cannot work out how to get the
answer windows sent to you for this problem. So...somebody out
there...help!!!

*.eml are email files. WinMail stores each message as a separate EML file.

Avant is a free anti-virus that works with Vista.

Disabling McAfee or Norton is not enough. They must be uninstalled.

You also have your outgoing server ser to 'smtp.tele2.fr'?

Don't assume that your issue is the same as someone else's.
Right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a
reply here.

Don't just "switch it off", uninstall it completely. It won't hurt you to be
without the protection of the antivirus for the few minutes it will take
you to uninstall, reboot, and then retest your mail program.
Once you get your mail working, download and install a more compatible
antivirus such as the free version of Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
Be sure to configure it NOT to scan email. For some more information
about this, see http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

So who is going to take the responsiblity to fix this problem?? Everyone that
has Windows mail seems to be in the same boat. I get the same error messeges.
In coming or out.

Far from everyone is in the "same boat".

Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
should be uninstalled.

And the fix for when the problem does occur is posted here many times every
day.
