I have recently set up windows mail and I can receive mail but not send it. I
have tried some of the previous suggestions in similar threads but to no
avail. I get the following error message:

-- The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'tiscali', Server: 'smtp.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Please do not start a new thread every day :-))

You posted the same question yesterday, at exactly the same time, 9:23 am,
you had replies then.

Looks like you have been messing with Port numbers in the mean time?

A bit of effort and you will find your previous post.

Apologies - I was being a techno biff- I failed to refresh the page so didn't
get the replies yesterday. Aactually it wasn't the same time but I'm still a
biff! Didn'tmean to waste anyone's time.

Two suggestions:

Plan A: Use Windows Mail as your newsreader instead of the crappy Web
interface.

Setting up Windows Mail (Vista) to access Microsoft newsgroups:

Plan B: Stay with the crappy Web interface but refresh your browser page
automatically.
