Outbound traffic on Windows2000 server

I have a windows2000 test server, that I connect to the
internet with a 56k modem. I have lots of outbound traffic
even when I am not doing anything. As I use a modem, I
installed ZoneAlarm as a basic firewall. This has just
started happening in the last few days, when I look at
task manager, I dont see any process that could be sending
out so much traffic. This traffic passes through wether or
not I have Zonealarm loaded or not.

What would be the best way to trace what is wrong? I am
sure, as this is a test server, I have misconfigured
something, but I am at a loss now as how to backtrack.

Thanks

You need to look into your zone alarm settings some more
and only allow internet explorer access to the internet(
and of course any other applications that need access)
When this is set up correctly nothing should be going out
then. Then zone alarm should tell you when a certain
program is trying to access the internet. If its a red
window this means its not a known application and you
might have to think twice on what this is.

You should also scan for virii with your normal virii
scanner and make sure its updated.

Then you have to search for spwayre that anti virii doesnt
not care about with a program spybot search & destroy.

Thanks for the help, however my problem is this, I believe
Windows 2000 needs some services to access the interent,
as files like DLLHOST.exe ask for permission from
ZoneAlarm. So When these services ask, I have no idea if I
should allow them or not? MY antivirus is up to date, and
I did run the program "Swatit" a trojan remover, and the
system was clean. Any more suggestions would be
appreciated.
