It sounds like the vertical refresh rate setting in Windows for the
game's display resolution is too high for your display.

Check the GTA and Roller Coaster game manuals, read me files and/or
settings to see what display resolution they are running at. Use that
information in the Windows advanced display properties to reduce the
vertical refresh rate for the resolution the games run at.

Hmm, I Have No Clue How And Where To DO That, My computer is getting repaired
and im using my brothers to play the game to pass time... :P I dont want to
mess anything up, Im 14 Im wondering if anybody could give me a walkthrought

I don't have a way to determine resolutions for GTA or Roller Coaster
Tycoon, since I don't have those applications. Someone that has them
will have to provide any specifics for them.

The display's native (hardware) resolution normally looks best on thin
displays like LCDs.

Exact procedures for setting refresh rates vary with different video
accelerator makes and models, as they are set with code generated by the
hardware manufacturer. Most start with right clicking the desktop and
clicking "Properties" on the resulting context menu. Most manufacturers
provide vertical refresh function on a second pop-up that appears when
you click the "Advanced" button on the "Display Properties" pop-up's
"Settings" tab. 60hz works with just about every display at all
resolutions, but higher rates might be compatible with lower
resolutions. Some people are annoyed by a flickering phenomena at 60hz,
but many don't notice the flicker.

Hmmm, Still not working im still getting 7.6Khz/6Hz with the black screen
around. Im going to try changing my monitor, Before i had no prolem but now
my brother bought his Jumbo screen witch needs a resolution of 1280 by 1024
pixels, but im going to try switching monitors to see if it makes a
difference. Thanks for helping me out,

Has this just started happening straight away...?

Have you changed your monitor lately and that caused it? If so - then its
probable the newer monitor doesn't support the games were previously set to
use.

If you've got an ATI or nVidia graphics card and the full set up drivers
installed, then you should be able to override the refresh in their control
panels. Usually by right-clicking the desktop, clicking properties,
clicking settings, then advanced.

Have a look around for override refresh rate, or similar - if it's a flat
screen LCD monitor than it's probably best to set it to 60hz.

If that doesn't work - uninstalling and reinstalling the games, or deleting
their config files (I'm not sure if either have any that can be easily
accessed) *should* force the games to go back to a safe refresh rate.

Hi Kyle,

In addition to the good advice posted in this thread, you should also
locate the driver CD that came with the monitor and install those
drivers for you monitor. If you don't have the CD, check their website.
