I cannot activate my Out of Office Assistant with
Microsoft Office 2003 Beta. I've tried the suggested fix
of tools/options/other/advanced etc. but it will not
install.

Any suggestions?

Additionally, I cannot change or bold the type in
messages. Any suggestions on how to fix that?

Are you in an Exchange environment? OoOA is only
available in an Exchange environment (as your
administrator if you don't know).

If you are not in an Exchange environment you can create
a rule that replies
on all e-mails. The downside of this is that you'll have
to have your
Outlook open all the time for the rules to process. Make
sure you set some
exceptions (for instance based on the subject field so it
will not reply on
subject with e.g. reply, failed, undeliverable, etc...)
otherwhise you could
create endless mailloops between two mailservers and
those can be a real
threat to the mailservers!

It only works if you have an Exchange Server. Probably just as well, the
Out-of-Office Assistant is an excellent way to significantly increase the
volume of spam you receive.
