Out of office assistant

I upgraded from Office 2000 to Office XP. I now notice
that the Out of Office assistant in Outlook is missing.
How can i fix this?

It shouldn't be missing, I work with XP, what version of
Outlook is it? Did you look under Tools while you have
the Inbox folder selected? It won't show up if you have
the Calendar or Journal up.

The Out of Office Assistant works only if you are connected to an Exchange
server.

The Out of Office Assistant is only available if you are connected to an
Exchange server. You can spoof the OOA using the Rules Wizard, but Outlook
must be kept running in order for the rule to work. Look here for more

The computer is connected to an exchange server and can
send and receive e-mail. If I uninstall Office XP and
install office 2000 the OOA reappears. Install XP it
dissappears.

Try deleting or renaming the extend.dat file, and/or reinstalling the
Exchange extensions (you can find this add-in in Tools | Options | Other |
Advanced Options | Add-In Manager, or if it's not installed, click Install
and then choose Emsuix.ecf from the list). Make sure you restart Outlook
(choose Exit and Log Off from the File menu) after making any of these
changes.
