Out of date email address completed from Outlook 2002

On occassion, Outlook 2002 automatically fills-in the
WRONG email address for a contact.

For example, A listing for "John Smith" in "Contact" has
three email addresses. When the auto-complete option is
turned on and I type: John Smith, Outlook puts quotes
around it and fills it in .. I assume it is the top email
address in Contact - not so. It fills in an address that
I used a year ago for this person - not one on the list.

QUESTION: HOw do I avoid having OUTLOOK insert out-of-
date email addresses?

Steve

The AutoComplete feature in Outlook 2002 works against addresses previously
typed in, not against the Contacts folder.

If you want to delete individual entries from the AutoComplete cache, start
typing in a name and when the list of possible matches comes up, point to
the entry you want to delete (so that it's highlighted) and press Delete.
To delete the whole cache and start over, look for a file with an .NK2
extension and rename it or move it. Outlook will start a new cache file the
next time an e-mail address is typed into the To: box. Note that if you're
using Windows 2000 or XP, you'll need to search in hidden and system folders
to find the .NK2 file (it also helps to have file extensions visible).
