Attempted factory restore of WinXP Home Edition. Get
light blue screen which says please wait while windows
starts. From there, I get WinXP Home logo page with
message that says please wait. The message never goes
away. When I restart, get WinXP Home logo page, then
lsass.exe message about current password not being
correct. Computer reboots by itself, runs through logo
page, error message, then reboots. Knowledge Base
Article - 316134 says "To resolve this problem, reinstall
Windows XP using the Recovery CD provided by your
computer manufacturer or the installation source provided
by your administrator, and do not turn off the computer
or restart it during the Wizard."

How does one reinstall XP without the installation wizard
automatically restarting the computer during the
process? I can't do it, and in any event, my machine
freezes after the logo comes up and says please wait.
Any suggestions appreciated. JB

Hi James,
Didn't a instruction book come with your computer. What kind of computer do
you have? At the first blue screen start tapping the F10 key to see if your
"System Recovery" tool comes up. If it does just follow the instructions. It
should tell you how to do this in your quick start instructions.
