I added Office XP to my new computer running on Vista Home Premium and
transferred all files from my old computer. Everything transferred and the
calendar still has all my events (birthdays, anniv). The problem is that I
can not edit any of these events. I get error message "Can't open this item.
The object is invalid" In order for me to make any edits, I need to search
Windows, bring up the event and change it. What am I doing wrong? Thank
you.

I think she means the Windows Calendar you can access from the Mail tool
bar. I have Microsoft Office Family without Outlook and have Microsoft
Calendar. It's a Vista program?

The OP said she added Office XP to her new Vista computer, so
my guess would be that she is talking about the Outlook calendar.
To be sure, Vista does have a separate Windows Calendar.

How exactly did you do this transfer? If you used import or export with the
data (.PST) file, you very likely corrupted the Outlook profile. Create a
new profile, copy the .PST file from your old computer to the new one (do
NOT copy it into the standard location for data files without making sure it
has a different name than any .PST file already there (overwriting a .PST
file can cause profile corruption also). Once done, re-connect Outlook to
the data file.
