The microsoft antispyware runs and finds OTX Meida spyware. I tell it to
remove it and it thinks it does. The next time it scans, the OTX spyware is
back.

I am not real sure, but I think the MSAS is telling be the thing is in the
registry, which I don't mess with.

Any ideas???

thanks as always

Have you tried running in safe mºde?
In safe mode, some of the protective services which these programs use to
ensure that they aren't removed, are not running, so they are easier to
remºve.

It took a long time, but I ran MSAS, spybot, and Norton Antivirus in safe
mode. Nothing found the otx media spyware. It was logged twice in the MSAS
quarantine area. I deleated it there. I then go back into normal mode
and use internet explorer and the MSAS detects the activex otx media trying
to do something. I deny it privelages.

I was thinking of suggesting that myself but hesitated when Fritzj said, "the
thing is in the registry, which I don't mess with". Fritzj, particularly if
your on XP and your system is taking regular restore points it is not a big deal
to run regedit. Here's a good Ms link that I used to learn all about backing up
the registry, and using hive files. I really like his advice about the
VBSscript Snapshot... have it sitting on my desktop right now, blessed by MSAS
script blocking to take a quick snapshot anytime before I use regedit.

Guys,
Thanks. I followed the link to the malware removal. A lot of things left
my computer. I do not know what all left, but I suspect it was not needed.
i run Norton antivirues and spybot search and destroy and adaware every week.
Obviosly things slipped by.
Anyway the Otx medai spyware alarm is gone. Microsoft antispyware no longer
finds it.
Thanks for the time and help. I appreciate it.
