I used to use outlook express and now trying to learn outlook 97, windows
XP. When I send out a group e-mail with a word attachment a person who uses
iplanet manager is unable to open the attachment. The line reads
"application/ms-tnes" Is there a converter that she or I need?

Also when I receive a reply form this user, the reply is in an html
attachment and not in the body of the e-mail. Am I doing something wrong or
is it the way it is being sent to me that is causing this problem.

Thanks for the help.

You went from Outlook Express (which would've presumably been the latest
version 6) to a 5+ year old version of Outlook? Anyone know if Outlook
97 supported HTML-formatted e-mails? Doesn't look like it
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;171294). If
you cannot afford to upgrade to a newer version of Outlook, see if some
freebie e-mail client, like Pegasus Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird, will
work for you, or go back to OE6.

Outlook 97 does not support HTML.

As for the other issue, most other e-mail programs cannot process
messages sent in Outlook Rich Text format (it's proprietary to
Outlook)...so make sure you send to those recipients in Plain Text
format and they should receive your e-mail message and its attachments
properly.
