I am trying to upload an existing website to which I have made changes. When
I try to publish it, via FTP, all the other websites in "My Webs" get
published along with it. Why would that happen? How can I prevent t?

If you're using ftp (and not Publishing via http://) then you want to select
only the folders/files for the particular web to upload.

Just tried what you suggested. It's still uploading EVERYTHING...driving me
crazy. Of course all the other websites being uploaded are causing a problem
with overload.

HOW are you uploading...FTP (FP's or 3rd party) OR Publishing via http://
???

IF you are using FP's Publishing method and it's publishing everything in
the My Webs folder then it sounds like you aren't working with webs...or
rather your entire My Webs folder is a web. Do your webs within My Webs
folder have blue globes on the icons...or are they normal looking yeller
folders?

No, the don't have the real icon...they have the "yeller folders". My own web
has the icon and one other website. Why don't the others? When I make a new
one I go to File, New Website.

Then they are not web/sites, they're just folders within My Webs.

You can easily convert the folders to webs/sites just right click on the
folder and choose Convert to Web.

Thank you so much for your help in this matter for me. I have converted all
those folders into websites now and should have more luck. What can I do to
prevent this problem from occuring in the future?

Yer welcome...glad I could hep.

Ways to avoid it:

If you intend to create a new web/site, make sure you do when starting out.

If you intend to create a subweb/site, create a folder within FP put all
your junk in that first (pages, images, blahblahblah), then from within FP
right click on that folder and choose Convert To Web.
