Are there other ways of securing a mdb database than the official microsoft
posibilities. So not using a database password or using the mdw security.

Sometimes I see *.mdb databases which you cannot open with access, are not
using a mdw file or a database password and will not open, resulting in an
error: "unknown database format ........mdb"? That's de type of security I
would like top use for my applications also? Are there any suggestions?

My guess would be that those fiels are either corrupted, or were built in a
version of Access that you don't have.

That error message is not a security feature.

That's not security. That's what happens if you are using the wrong version
of Access to open the file.
