Hi,

This may or may not be appropriate to ask this question here but anyway...

We don't want to use MS DNS. We already have DNS running on our AS/400.

It supports SRV and dynamic updates.

What do I have to do so DNS doesn't have to be running on the DC at all.

I have searched far and wide but can't see exactly what needs to be added to
the DNS server.

I am not a DNS guru and our jump to Win2K was not expected so no planning
was done, so therefore I am not a Win2K (AD) expert either.

I just need to know what information needs to be replicated from the Win2k
DNS to our AS/400 DNS to allow our Win2k server to point to the AS/400 DNS
server like the rest of our network already does.

TIA

Nathan

All that should be necessary is to create the zone on the AS 400 DNS server, enable dynamic updates on the zone and point all
machines including the DCs to this DNS server. Dynamic updates should do the rest.

Thank you,
Mike Johnston
