Other Users Password

The organization I work for got new computers and were getting rid of the old
ones. I got one but when I turn it on it has a network program on it and the
employee that had it is signed on and requires a password that I don't know.
How do I get to the root directory so I can re-format the HD and install XP?

One needs the Windows XP installation cdrom. It is self-booting. Make
the cdrom drive the first boot device. Put the Windows XP installation
cdrom into the cdrom drive and turn on the computer. After the clean
install of Windows XP, all of the computer's essential utility files
need to installed for the computer to work properly. Make sure that
these files are available, either from the IT of the organization or
downloaded from the computer maker's website.

You don't need to know any passwords to accomplich what you need to do.

After backing up any data you wish to transfer to the new OS
installation, simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be
offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part
of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of
boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Then the backed up data can be restored and applications re-installed.
