Saw this on slashdot, thought people may be interesting for
freeware-type peeps:

World Community Grid's mission is to create the world's largest public
computing grid to tackle projects that benefit humanity.

Our work has developed the technical infrastructure that serves as the
grid's foundation for scientific research. Our success depends upon
individuals collectively contributing their unused computer time to
change the world for the better.

Thanks, I signed up for it. I will try it out. This does seem to be
in the spirit of the group.

No thanks. I'm in this world to better myself
first. When I have the time and money. I'll
contribute to decent causes and not some
global congolmerate manure that will only
benefit a few at the top. Causes like this
are jokes and th eonly thing you're helping
are the few who have manipulated the others
by giving them the 'good feelings' they are
helping the planet. You are like the turds who
manipulate others to recycle resuable materials.
When you take the time to separate plastic from
glass from paper from aluminum, etc., and all the
other recycled materials, who do you think is making
all the money from all the fools? Fools who even
do all the separating and not asking a share of
the profits. You do all the work for your county,
city, state government, etc., and they have you
feeling really good about it. That's because people
who participate in 'the causes of the whole'are
foolish idiots. Keep you global computing grid.
Corporations and others need all the fools they
can find.
