OT: Will Antec warranty-repair my power supply if I don't have proof of purchase?

I have an Antec PS that I bought off ebay about a year ago. It's
gotten flaky, with system reboots and shutdowns. Will Antec accept
this unit for a warranty repair?

The Antec web site says that will do warranty service only for the
original owner and with proof of purchase. The warranty is three
years, but this PS has been out probably only 2, maybe 2 1/2 at most,
so I'm not worried about that.

I suspect that it would be less expensive to buy a new one than pay
for the shipping. A new one with exactly the same voltage, maximum
current specs and connectors as one 2.5 years old is probably not more
than $30-$40 today.

Anyone with any actual experience with Antec?

True but I'm not sure that I would want to trust my system to a $40
power supply. An engineer once told me that power supplies should be
a "set it and forget it" kind of thing. With a high quality PS, I
have a better chance at that than with a $40 unit. Too many stories
of "problems with my system" that can be attributed to flaky PS. Not
worth the headaches.

Only two options:

1. Follow Antec's rules.

2. Don't follow Antec's rules.

You aren't the original owner. Were you planning to print up a
fake receipt?

Have you asked Antec?
Why ask here?

Have you asked Antec?

Well, I've certainly tried. Left phone messages Friday and today
(Monday), but no reply yet. Certainly isn't a positive sign. And on
the messages, I haven't brought up the lack of purchase proof issue.

Why ask here?
Well, you have to figure that in this group there are a lot of Antec
customers.

And sometimes if you get a "NO" you can say, "But I've heard of other
cases where the customer got a YES," and you wouldn't be just
blarneying the CSR.

Hope this addresses your concerns.

Of course not! The options are theirs. They may _in practice_ not
demand a proof of purchase if the unit is clearly within the three
year warranty period. So my question was whether or not Antec
adheres to their own requirement.

Does that address your concern?

Good evening,
I had an Antec 330W True power supply with invoice I had bought
three years minus 1 month from a store.
Thought I had a problem with it (error messages while building
a new machine) but was not 100% sure it was a PS problem.
They gave me a RMA number and I returned it to Rotterdam (I live
in Europe) and they emailed me they had tested it (they do not do
swap changes)and they had found nothing wrong with it.
However they sent me back an Antec 380W true power.
Good service for me eventhough the whole process took about 1 month.
Regards

I tried to get an RMA from them and I never heard back. THey have some
crazy long-ass procedure, I did everything, and got the silent treatment.

330W PSU maybe too small.

About two years ago I had bought an Antec case and noticed the front panel
didn't fit quite right. I emailed Antec and within a few days got a reply
and with a little explanation in another email, I was sent a whole new front
panel (top and bottom sections) for the case.

Try email to customer support on their web site, rather than phone.
Hope this helps.

Well, I have left three messages now, and still not gotten a call
back. I think I will need to do the email approach, as another person
suggested.

It's possible that they have a lot of people out because of the
Christmas ("holidays!") break.
