Hi all,

I just got a Toshiba 230CX off ebay with no software on it, Win98 loaded and
runs OK off the CD Rom drive. However, I want to load Win95 as it needs less
memory. Problem is that my copy of Win95 needs a floppy boot disk (which I
have) but the machine has no floppy drive.

I have a PC with Nero and I am wondering if I can make a bootable CD using
the floppy then also add Win95 to the same CD. Is this a logical work
around, if this seems workable then I will figure out how to do it but any
tips would be helpful. Another possible work around is that now it boots
into Win98SE, perhaps I can downgrade by deleting some critical files and
loading Win95 over the top?

regards

prob the easiest thing to do at this point is copy the win95 folder onto
your harddrive
then shutdown and restart in dos

now you can deltree and delete the rest of the drive
(you may have to copy the deltree command to your root directory)
and run setup from within the win95 folder

Hmmm... thanks for that, sligh problme, I just notice the HDD has been
partitioned (1) using FAT32 so I guess I will have to deal with that first
as I think early 95 is only compatable with FAT16? and before I do that I
will need to pull some files off so now I guess I have to get the two
machines talking which will be another learning curve. Heck a floppy drive
is still an awful useful medium.

Many thanks

win95a (july 1995) will require fat16

but win95B (or C) is ok with fat32

if you don't have it...you can prob get it on ebay

or better still...
why not use win98 lite?
if you have a win95cd and a win98 cd
it can modify your win98 to use win95's explorer
and essentially have win98 but with the lower resources of win95

Win98 lite takes a little while to setup
but I found it worth it...
I;ve recently been able to save a p200 from being tossed out!
