Looking for a nice 17" or 19" monitor at the right price, any makes I should
be looking out for, and what makes not to buy aswell guys, I have bad sight
so something with nice clear view and bright would be helpful

have around £200-£250 to spend and I am in the UK

cheers Dave

They are currently doing a 17" 16ms TFT for £132, it's not a big brand name,
but it's a fantastic bit of kit. They also do a 19" 25ms one, same brand
for around £225

I bought two of them, not a dead pixel, very bright... no ghosting in fast
games, perfect video playback. I'm thinking of getting a 19" and having one
of each on this rig and just the 17 on the other.

Just looked them up

Anyone know of a good (and cheap!) TFT with low response time (<=16ms) and
DVI input for my 9600 Pro gfx card?

You wont get good, cheap AND DVI. I've just ordered the..

http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=16437

Going to use it with a 9800Pro. This has 14ms response but doesnt have
DVI. According to the reviews though it doesnt seem to need it.

You'll either have to pay more or (like me) make compromises. Shaun

You'll need to spend more than 250 pounds to get an upper-end 19 inch
TFT. I'm using a Samsung Syncmaster 193T. It's marvellous.

Samsung 710T seems right now to be the best choice.

I'm looking for a 14" or 15" as a portable monitor for my Shuttle Form
Factor. Except I'm in the US, so any suggestions for 20ms or faster TFT that
is relatively cheap???

Viewsonic VX912 is nice with 12ms response time, £370 though.

I've been running mine for 2 weeks now with my 9700pro and it is
great.

Mine arrived today. No dead pixels and makes the old CRT sitting next
to it look downright dowdy. Plays UT2004 and HL2 no probs. No ghosting
at all that I can see. Havent tried DVDs or Doom3 yet. So far very
happy and suprised at the quality for the low price.

The only downer for me is that I'd been watching the price on them for about
3 months. It started at £199 and has steadily dropped each week or two
since... I bought them at £152.. only to find that within less than 3 weeks
they dropped another £20. Still, by the new year, the 19" should be around
£199. :)
