OT spybot s+d problem

A friend has d/loaded latest version of spybot on 2 occasions
(uninstalled and reinstalled) for their XP computer , but after
installing , theres nothing in the left hand window (such as
tools,settings,excludes etc which i have in w98) , only donation and
update.Anyone with any experience of this happening? and a fix for it.

Yep, it's in the help file. You're looking for advanced mode AIR

Yep i know its advanced mode as mine is on that too and is enabled
through settings.But my friend does not have a settings tab to enable
it.All thats showing is search and destroy,immunise,recovery,update and
donations.Any ideas how to enable settings tab?

Start >Programs>Spybot Search & Destroy>Spybot S&D (advanced mode)

Thank you...that seems to have done the trick.She has been using desktop
shortcut icon to open it so never opened from there.I didnt know that was
there either.

I think initially adaware only targeted adware, where as spybot targeted
other malware such as newdotnet which which isnt adware as such but more
of a security issue , as it downloads and installs silently updating
itself.In my opinion its sensible to have the two.

Go to Start/Programs (All Programs in XP) and you should find three options:
Easy Mode
Advanced Mode
Uninstall Spybot
The Advanced Mode should give you the left hand panel you require.
(I only found this out recently after someone in ACF asked a similar
question)
