Hi everyone,

I could use some suggestions from fellow users. I'm putting together a slide
show of my son's first year to give to my parents and in-laws for Christmas.
He was born 12/30/2003, and I have some great pictures and video to use.

My problem is I'm having a hard time thinking of a good song to put along
with my pictures. I've got Louis Armstrong's "Wonderful World", but that's
just a little over 2 minutes long, so I need another song (or two) to fill
out my aproximately six minutes of pictures and video.

I thought about using a few songs from the Baby Einstein soundtrak, but
those don't really go well with Wonderful World (and I really want to use
that one since a number of the beginning pictures are in the delivery room
right after he was born and when we first brought him home).

Would love to hear a few suggestions from some of the creative folks here!

Thanks,

Gary

There are 10 types of people in the world:
Those that understand binary, and those that don't.

I have no specific suggestions for pieces of music to
use, but...

If you're lucky enough to live in a decent-sized town,
there's likely a used CD place close by. The one I visit
most here in Nashville (Phonoluxe) even has a few CD
players so that you can preview prospective discs
before buying them (used discs only, of course).

Check out the instrumental piano and the soundtrack
sections, and you'd be amazed what you'll find -- and
relatively cheaply, too. I have a few piano instrumental
CDs that are very useful, and fit in a wide variety of
video projects.

Hhhmmmm,...
Rainbow connection:(kenny loggins version is very good)... but Kermits will
do...and ...I hope You Dance by Leanne Womack have gone over well in some of
my children videos. Jimmy Durante's ...Make someone Happy works well with
Wonderful World ...if Your child is a girl...Thank Heaven for little girls -
Maurice Chevalier also sits well next to Louis Armstrong. I used Elton John's
Tiny Dancer in one video which went over well. It might be a bit of a
reach,...but I always thought that love ballads like Phil Collins' You'll be
in my heart...or Dan fogelberg's...Since You asked would make good Child
oriented video background music. Oh,...and for Sonogram Clips,...be still my
beating heart by sting works great! I believe you have to have an idea of
the direction of your pictures/video. Are You going for just plain choking
up your audience...or mixing humor and sincerity...leaning more torwards
humor??? ...The music must be the turn signal for the direction you are
moving ...most of all try to use music that is relative to the subjects and
the experiences. If, for some reason, Jimi Hendrix was playing in the
delivery room,...You'd have to have a snippet at least of that...(really!)
Somtimes the music is right because it was relative to one or more of the
pictures or video clips. It takes some time,...and a sound editing program
is helpful for adequate fades but, If you can combine short audio that was or
is relative with longer audio of what you feel is appropriate,...you'll get
closer to what a musical background should be. Oh yea,...and a few judicious
sound effects here and there can really add entertainment value. (Just my
thoughts....but I've had nothing but raves from my video clients....family
and friends ...... if I do say so myself ;0)

Good Luck,

RandyPC

I'm not sure if you've heard of Keali'i Reichel he's a Hawaian singer who
has a couple of songs that might work for you.

One is E O Mai an it's about 4:32 in length. It's in he's native lanuage,
but it's beautiful.

The other one is also by him. It's the theme from Babe, "If I had words."
Very nice for anything to do with kids. It runs 5:06 in lenght.

The only other one I love to put with photo's is, "Time of your life" by
Greenday.

Hope these help, ~R
