I found a Samsung 955DF monitor today on clearance for $99.88 but the
anti-glare coating was really trashed. I asked a store employee if the store
(CompUSA!) could do any better on the price because of the condition of the
coating. About 5 minutes later the employee came back and said $49.88!!! I
bought it figuring I could remove the rest of the coating and use it as is
or get an anti-glare filter later on if the glare was really bad without the
coating.
Problem is I haven't found anything yet that will remove the rest of the
coating. I have tried small quantities of the following: liquid lighter
fluid, paint thinner, and non-acetone based nail polish remover. So far I
have only managed to remove a small quantity of the coating (probably some
of the coating that was already loose).
I can't use a scraper because the material under the coating is plastic with
the actual CRT behind this clear plastic sheet.
Any ideas on how to remove the rest of the coating without destroying the
underlying plastic will be appreciated.
BTW: I tested the monitor on my system and other than the anti-glare coating
problem it works great!
Thanks in advance.

The truth is out there. You just have to look in the right places and ask
the right questions.
