I dont want to get into the pros/cons of certifying emails/news group
posts or scanning news postings, but just how do you do that for
newsgroup postings?.I use gravity as a newsclient and i can if i wish
using avast or avg put the incoming / outgoing mail certification on but
how do you do that for newspostings?.Avast uses 127.0.0.1 instead of for
example pop.ukonline.co.uk and smtp.ukonline.co.uk , but for the news
server you cant put 127.0.0.1 in.You have to use news.ukonline.co.uk.So
how do scan news group postings using a news client such as gravity or
any other for that matter.

Why would you want to scan newsgroup postings for viruses? They
aren't executables, and they aren't executed by news readers unless
they have a file extension that marks them as executable as far as I
know.

If you have a newsreader that automatically executes an executable or
does so when you click on it without warning you about it, you need a
better newsreader.

I dont want to scan newgroup postings , i just want to know how you do it
, as i notice some have the AVG certification on thier posts.I d like to
know whtehr this can only be achieved if you are using OE as a newsreader
for example.I use gravity , and have never thought about whether it would
auto execute an executable to be honest.Perhaps id better check :)

Good point. I hadn't noticed the certs on news posts. No doubt they
are using OE as I don't think AVG has a plugin for any other program
that doubles as a newsreader.

I guess there are ways to post via email gateways to newsgroup servers
and that might be another way people are doing it.
