Thought you guys in the UK might like to know, I just saw this on their
"today only" site, www.scan.co.uk/todayonly The Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer
for £8.95 plus VAT.

You might have seen me post here about this product before, simply because I
rate it so highly... and I paid £24 for mine.

Well made, easy to fit, silent and *brilliant* performance. I can now run
my 9700 Pro at 412MHz core: that 9800XT speed! imho, *everyone* with a
9700 or 9800 should fit one.

I fully agree, I fitted this to my 9800 Pro, core is now running at 425Mhz
very comfortably, no artefacts :)

I bought mine from a guy on Ebay for £13, it was 2nd hand but had never been
used as the package was still sealed, £9 is a great price :D

Thirded. This is IMHO the most impressive 'non-modded' aftermarket VGA
cooler available, allowing for ~15Mhz+ increase on VPU clock on 3 9800Pros
I've tried it with all at an equal if not lower noise level than stock.
Moreover there's enough clearance underneath it to allow for fitting of many
BGA RAMsinks (not sure about TweakMonster ones though) if you so desire.

Now just to wait until March for Arctic Cooling to release the
9800XT-compatible version...

Once the scan deal is over, the next best place to buy one is ebuyer.co.uk
for £11.74 inc VAT (although it's mis-labelled):

And 9500!
The 9500's are better than all but the most recent 9600's (which are simply
cheaper for ATI to fabricate) except that the 9500's run hotter, so the
artic cooler really kills the heat OC bottleneck and lets them fly :)
Bought one for my 9500 pro and it dissuaded me from buying a faster card for
games like Far Cry, can't be bad!

Don't SCAN bung something silly on for delivery charges though. I've just
selected this and with VAT and delivery its about £19.

About £2 cheaper off the ebuyer link that another poster gave.

Yes scan delivery is expensive for small items like this. I hadn't realized
that the ebuyer price was so low as well. Maybe they are a better bet,
unless you have other stuff to buy at the same time.

Still, I paid £28.85 from www.overclockers.co.uk, if I include VAT and
delivery :-( And its *still* a brilliant product at £28.85

(They have brought their price down a bit since, I notice.)

that is the same price as from scan because scan charge £7 delivery.
