Ah... A nice os to play with
Nice idea!
More info on that please - never heard of that one...?
Every windows NT Based system (NT3.15, NT4, W2K, and XP - in all flavors
like home, pro,and server) create some hidden shares by default. THese
shares can only be accessed if you are:
1) belonging to the domain administrator group of the LAN - But I guess you
dont have a domain but a workgroup...
2) belong to the administrator group of the target computer.
Hidden shares are just like normal shares but ending in a $ sign. This sign
makes them invisible for the Windows network browser. The shares asr called
<DriveLetter>$ but are only created for permanet drives, not for CD Players
usb drives or other media.
you can acces them by goin to the start menu --> run and then type
\\Computername\<driveletter>$ you will be asked to supply a name and
password. As said you needt to have an administrator name or password, or
you won't get in.
If you get everything richt, a window will apear with the root of the
requested drive. Since the C: drive is most often used for windows and the
documents and settings directory, you can play with this. Add a bunch of
icons to the desktop (this is a folder somewhere in documents and settings)
Now a big bummer: You can turn the hidden shares off. This means no acces at
all for you. For this, you should take a look in the user & groups
management console
<sarcasm>O yes! I will be his favourite friend eh!</sarcasm>
My college returned the favor by setting the timer to 1 second, and to force
close all open applications... Had to type 2 letters alover again
Do you have any links you recommend?
It is more than a year ago i used them, but nonags
http://www.nonags.com/
has some in the Toys section.
<grin!> I once did this *years* ago when we remapped WordPerfect 5.1
(remember?) keyboard so that whenever the person pressed "q" it would
close the program! LOL!
If your collegue is any good at typing, the nicest thing to do is just to
swing the A/E/I/O/U around. It wil drive him crazy, I'm sure
O yes - one friend already got me back (and all I did was change desktop
icons!) by installing a keylogger on his PC so when I used his PC he got
my passwords and went into Yahoo/Hotmail and changed settings <grr!>
well some revances I did or got:
- the 'He every body, somebody is watching porno over here' application put
in the start=up part of the registy. ANd I had to explain to my boss. He
realy got me that time
- Gotten into his email account and changed password to something nasty
- Intalling the thai language pack on windows 2000 - *AND* use it - that was
a tricky one to get rid of
- add a little app playing an anoying little wave file by every letter you
typed
- switching mouse directions with the logitag mouse control panel
- changed the subnetmask to 255.255.255.255
- added the start-up page of his default browser to the hostfile with ip
adress 127.0.0.1 (local ip number) Unfortunately, he did not have any
webserver running
- Exchanged the icons of 'My Computer' and 'Network'
But the real trick is to be origional.
