Off topic... I love this forum.

O.k., I wanted to know if there's any split-screen first-person shooter
games for PC like Serious Sam. I tried googling for some, but no luck.
I would do a network, but my friend has a crap computer and he can't
run most games smoothly. I have a custom built power house on the other
hand, so doing split-screen, we're both happy.

We prefer FPS split-screen games, but please don't hesitate to
recommend any other split-screen games for the PC. Thanks.

The older Need for Speed games (up through NFS4: High Stakes from 1999)
do split-screen. And Moto Racer actually lets you split the screen 4
ways. But I can't think of any other split-screen games besides Serious
Sam and a couple of driving games.

It is possible to launch multiple instances of Descent (the D1X build)
on the same PC (separate windows) and run a "network" game on 127.0.0.1,
but controls could be problematic (it would have to be one person on
keyboard [focused window] and one on joystick). Then again, Descent is
so old that your friend's PC would run it at 300 fps anyway.

Well how about Doom Legacy (http://legacy.newdoom.com)?
You'll also need a .wad file from any Doom.

Features standard network thingies, plus the best feature IMO:
2 player split screen possibility using 2 mice (player 2 can use
serial mouse)! One small drawback is tough that the serial
mouse movement is a bit jerky, hopefully it can be fixed.

NFSIII, CMR2 and ToCa Race Driver all have decent two person play if you
like racing at all.
