As a reminder,

One of the most important System Restore Points you can create is the one
After Patch Tuesday, or as I like to call it Patch Wednesday. If something
were to happen MalwareWise (or just me screwing up the system) the Restore
Point created by Patch Tuesday (Software Distribution Service) is for the
system Before the patches are applied!

I wouldn't want to have to redo the past hour if I got my System hosed in
the next 24 hours.

Tomorrow I get to do MS Office 2000 updates, Oh goody ?:-(
I never do them both in the same day.

Thank you Tim i just took your advise. But let me ask you a question if lets
say in a day or two i had to restore my computer to Feb 12 would i have to
re-do all of Feb 13's updates. Are the updates removed if i restored just
prior to updates. Thanks Ron

i did the office ones with no problems at all and did them in the same day
only I did them first before the security updates.

Ron,

Yes, that is exactly correct.

If you Restore back to Feb 12 your System is "funtionally" restored back to
its state at the moment the Restore Point was created. I say "funtionally"
because you would still have files on your computer from after that date but
they would not be registered or installed (I mean installed in the normal
Windows sense of the word). So in theory the Patch Files could still be on
your machine, but Windows would not know about them and would not use them.

Robin,

Thanks for the info.
I'm not really concerned most of the time with problems with updating Office
as I am with Bandwidth when there are Patches for both Windows and Office.
This is why I still use WU instead of MU. I use a modem at home. I don't
want a 15MB download all at once. It takes too long and I'm worried about
something going wrong.
