I'm looking for a username/password protection method for multiple user
accessing web pages.
Ideally it would be very simple for an end user to use because I don't want
to maintain it.

I've asked in a JavaScript group but received no solutions of value,
comments about how easy it is to break such schemes (but no answers on how)
and references to .httaccess.
I'll probably end up rolling my own in MySQL but am lazy and hope somebody
knows of one.

Well, because Microsoft Access database software doesn't run in that
environment, and that's what this newsgroup is about, this wouldn't likely
be a good place to get the answer you need. I'd be very surprised if there
aren't methods/software/code that does exactly what you want, likely even
free ones, but it'd only be happenstance if you found it here. BTW, I'm not
aware of any microsoft.public newsgroups devoted to Linux issues.

Mike,

Wrong newsgroup mate, but try looking for .htaccess method. This will do
what you need, apart from perhaps the maintining being easy for your users.
Please dont reply back here about this, try a linux newsgroup, or go search
for a tutorial on .htaccess

Regards,

Simon.
