Hello
I sold a Duron850MHz cpu on a local (norwegian) auction called qxl.no. The
buyer asked me if it would work on his mobo, (it was aopen socket-a, already
running a Duron600MHz). I checked the link to Aopen mobo site (which he
provided), and all the voltage ranges and tech specs of mobo were suffient.

So I told him that Duron850 is 100% compatible (maybe my mistake, don't
know) to 600MHz, so it should work.

He bought it and now complains that it does not work. He claims that the
core of CPU is damaged. However he hasn't tested it in another mb (despite
my repeated advices).
So now he want to ME to refund it including postage expenses, and only THEN
shall he send it back to me.

Any ideas? What should I do?

I don't know what this issue has to do with this newsgroup. In any
case here is my two cents:

Review the exact wording of your ebay auction and whether you
sell it as it was or if it was guaranteed. Also review if the MoBo
does or does not support the processor and be sure about it.

If both are yes then make sure he tests it in another MoBo before
shipping it back.

If second is no then I guess it's your fault and you should have
investigated it or not replied on the subject. Then all costs are for
you I'm afraid.

Hope this helps... I've been ripped off myself in ebay today and now
the feeling at the other side.

What promises were made in the auction?

Enjoy,

Pay the postage. A *brand new* Duron850 sells for $29 at pricewatch, and
the postage would be $couple ... You might be getting into a fruitless
argument here because you are looking at how much it cost you originally...
is it really worth it over a second hand *and* currently cheap part?
