Not really sure if this belongs here, but I dont know of another group to
ask..

I'm trying to use Nero Burning ROM 6 to backup some files to a DVD. For some
reason it's VERY slow to add files to the project.

The first bunch of files added fine, but now I've been waiting over half an
hour for about 1 gig of files to be added to the project... I never had this
problem with Roxio 6 when adding files to a project.

This is before the burning even starts to happen... It's when I'm dropping
folders to the project in Nero to add those files to be burned.

Can anyone suggest why Nero is so slow?

I'd like to know this one myself..

waiting in anticipation....!

Have you tried just dragging the files manually from the hard disk
window to the DVD window ? I just did it with NERO 6.6 and its fast.
No problems. Just drag and drop and then burn.

Some of the early 6.0xxxx NEROs have a warning that theres some bug in
it,

That is what I did...

The only thing I can think of is that there are MANY small files, but still
two hours later it was still creeping along. The disk space kept
incrementing so I know it was still working, but at several seconds per meg
I wasn't going to wait. I finally cancelled.

I'd like to know what the bug is...

I was trying to write an ISO/UDF disk. I'm going to try again with the
Joliet format when I've got a few more hours to kill.

Thx

I'd like to know this one too; crosspost added to alt.comp.periphs.cdr.

Have the drive/s been de-fragged recently?

If it's the extremely slow behaviour in the Nero file browser that's the
problem, it seems to be something to do with icons and possibly virus
checkers. Disable the pretty file icons in Nero in Preferences>File
Browser>Display Shell Icons. Also, if you can, disable Nero.exe in your
virus scanner's real time scanner.
