Hi newsgroup,

could an original English speaker please freshen up my bad English
translation? It is about a virtual keyboard.

My sentence is:

"To type on the keyboard you need to have a text editor open that you
can write in/ inside/ into/ within (just like when using a normal
computer keyboard)."

Could anybody please help me and create a "real" English sentence from
my try?

Thank you.
Martha.

Maybe if you posted the sentence in its original language there could
be additional help. Notice that

Regards,

Branco.

Martha,

Maybe one of these will help...

"To type on the [virtual?] keyboard you need to have a text editor open that
you can write to, just like using a regular keyboard."

or

"To type on the virtual keyboard you need to have an open text editor
window, like Windows Notepad. Then just type on it like a regular keyboard."

"Open a text editor, for example Notepad, and then click the keys of the
on-screen keyboard to type."

"Open a text editor, for example Notepad, and then use the virtual keyboard
just like an ordinary keyboard."

(I had to make assumptions about how to use the keyboard and where it
appears, and the average user might understand Word better than Notepad as
an example of a "text editor".)
