Last Thursday after PowerPoint Live, I shared a cab from the Radisson with
our own Jan Ilaqua and with Greg Letourneau from anystream (Agility
Presenter). The cab driver was very pleasant and as we disembarked she
handed each of us a business card. I stuffed it in my purse and we all
hustled into the airport.
After clearing security and nosing around the shops, Jan and I made a pit
stop. At that point I was going to call home, and panicked when I couldn't
find my cell phone. We raced back to the security point and they said they
hadn't seen it. I was sure that they probably had it, knowing that it's not
out of the realm of possibility.
We tried to call the cab driver, but there was no answer. Jan said,
"Remember, she said she was going to go pick up a baby." On the plane ride
home and later as I drove from the airport to my house I tried to think back
to when I last remembered having the phone. I got home and called the cab
company. Sure enough, the phone had been found. I asked if they could mail
it to me collect. Today it arrived!!
Now the real impact of this story is that the cab driver sent the phone to
me personally but UPS required her to pay the $32.71 fee. On my end I wrote
a check for the amount, made out to her, and handed it to the UPS driver.
It probably won't reach her until late next week. She was so trusting that
she paid for it out of her pocket. I just hope that she gets her money
quickly and benefits from the blessings I have wished upon her.
