Looking at Date and Time Properties in Windows XP service pack 2. The
analog clock second hand moves spasmodically like it always has in
Windows.

Windows is not a real-time operating system.

Press Control-Alt-Delete -- Processes -- right-click on a process --
Set Priority -- Realtime

That's not advice, that's just an illustration.

I don't know what the Microsoft clock process name is, but I suspect
that changing its priority would change its fluidness.

Taking that as a play on words, that's funny IMO.

"The Microsoft clock second hand moves sporadically because Windows
is not a 'real time' operating system"

:)

Huh? moves 'sporadically'? I was just looking at the hand in WINME, moves
smoothly and correctly (as far as human eyes can tell anyway). What a stupid
thread. Real time OS or not it moves correctly.

If you compare it to a real second hand, you'll notice a lot of
hesitations.

TBH i have looked at it for a 60 second interval, compared to the sweep
hand on the wall clock...if anything the wall clock hicupped at the change
of the minute. I don't see this on my WINME clock. never looked at the XP
version.
