What tells you the chronological order of Microsofts published Articles?

I mean, concerning removal of Office 97 files, which one came first in the
following:

Previously: Q254250
Article ID: 254250
Last Review: September 26, 2004

Previously: Q176823
Article ID: 176823
Last Review: December 16, 2005

Article ID: Q158658
Article ID: 158658
Last Review: January 27, 2005

TIA.

The older articles have a lower kb number, in your example KB158658 is
the oldest article, it was published before the others. However, the
review dates means that the articles may have had newer contents or
information added to it, but not necessarily, sometimes there is little
if any change in the articles, I don't know for sure but I think that
they might be stamped with a review date even if nothing changed, just
so that the reviewers know when someone last looked at the article.

As you say lower order numbers are the oldest although I think the
number is allocated before the Article is released i.e. at a draft
stage, so you can get a higher number released before lower one. What I
say is based on observations as one outside the process.

Once an Article is written it tends to be engraved in stone. Some
changes do get made but they are only identiable if you have retained a
printed copy and are able to compare it to a current copy. A new Review
date is not an indication that any change has been made. The inability
to see clearly what has been changed has I am sure been pointed out
countless times but they take no notice. Sadly also mistakes and badly
written Articles never get amended. Why Microsoft fail to take on board
fair comment is symbolic of the type of organisation they are. A single
person devoted to put them right and in plain English would help
Microsoft and customer far beyond the cost employing them.

Hope this helps.
