Need cell-phone tower based Internet service to use 2-3 days per month,
maximum...about 8 or 9 hours per month, maximum. Needs to be cell tower
based, as the days I need it, I am nowhere near any wifi hotspot (paid or
otherwise), but almost always have cell phone service.

I know that I can sign up with ATT, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc...

But for my use, any of those plans currently offered amounts to about $20
per DAY, which is outrageous. I mean, they range from ~$50-$60/month, which
is reasonable (or at least not terrible) until you consider that I'll only
use it 3 days per month...

I found another company offering pre-paid Internet over 3G cell towers. I
thought that would be perfect until I called them. It's no contract, but
the same price as ATT, T-Mobile or Verizon.

Ideal situation would be a pre-paid service for about $5 per day or less.
Or a certain amount per gigabyte download, like $10 per gigabyte, or
something like that.

Does this service exist? -Dave

I'm not suggesting you shouldn't post here, but the best groups might
be "dcom" like (comp.dcom.telecom). Good luck.

You must find out locally (and your anonymised OP does not
say where you live.) In some places there are both large and
small competing cell phone cos., in others not. Some cities
already guarantee wireless Internet everywhere within the
city limits, others are publicly proposing it, others not.
