hi all,

I am having Win 98 alongwith XP and a old version of Liniux Mandrake in the
same machine. By default LiLo loads first and then I select either Windows
or Linux. After selecting windows then i have option for 98 or XP if i don't
select anything Linux is started.

I am not a linux expoert.

My questions is : since i am using windows regularly i want my default Os to
be Windows even if i don't press anything.

Can i do it ?

regards

Shure:
1. Boot into Mandrake Linux
2. Open the Mandrake Control Center (MCC)
3. Select Boot Options
4. Configure Lilo as wanted
5. Reboot.

However, why do you want to do this is incomprehensible to me.

IMO, to someone who has been using Windows their entire E-Life... Linux is a
bit intimidating, at least to me. I have just begun to dabble in it when i
get time. I am tons more comfortable in a Windows environment. I have
always said that when i have learned linux as well as i know windows, then i
will completely convert over.. but i guess the issue is where to get
started. From the outside it seems like a whole new world.. So as an
insider, can you give me some tips? thanks

I think this way you'll always stay with Windows.
The best way it seems is to make a list of apps you regularly use and find
Linux equivalents.
Then start doing your work with Linux. If it doesn't work, ask for help.
This way you'll probably find out that you don't need to boot into Win
anymore.
It is a jump into cold water, but once you start to swim you won't drown.
