Hi, all. Hope nobody minds an operating system question. Whenever I
restart my laptop computer, which is running Windows XP Home Edition, it
asks for a password. I have to hit return (I didn't assign a password) to
complete the restart. Does anyone know how to turn off this password
request feature? I'd like to be able to restart my computer and walk away
while it completes restart rather than waiting for the password request to
pop up and having to hit return to get beyond this.

TIA.

Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and
download and install Tweak UI.

Open the program.

In the tree that appears on the left:

click "Logon"
then click "Autologon"

In the box that appears on the right:

choose your username
then click "Logon automatically at system startup"

Tweak UI is a great freeware program that will allow to easily change many
of Windows' default settings.
