I recently dl'd and tested a freeware information and document manager
called IDEA. After deciding that it was too complicated for my purposes I
uninstalled it.

However, my Explorer right-click context menu still shows an option for
'IDEA2...' I've tried every possible thing I can do to get rid of it. I
have:
1. Used Power Tools to delete every trace of the program from the registry.
2. Tried to do it via RegEdit. I searched for the expression
"IDEA","IDEA2","IDEA2. . ." but couldn't find any key or value that matched.
3. Searched through the file associations via Windows Explorer. No reference
to it there either.

I'm stumped. Any ideas how I can get rid of this thing?

I have an old program called MENUEDIT (VERSION 1.00)
Was free when I obtianed it.
Description:
blah, blah blah...
When you select a file type from the list, the commands associated with
that file type appear in the list box on the right side of the window. You
can add to this list by pressing the New button. If you select an item in
the list and press the Edit button, the command associated with that menu
item will be displayed for editing. If you press Delete, the item will be
removed from the menu. If you select Default, the selected item will be
the one chosen when you double-click on a file of that type.
Some programs, such as Microsoft Word for Windows or Microsoft Excel, can
communicate with each other through DDE. If the command associated with the
item launches a program that accepts DDE, you can check the DDE box and add
DDE commands. See the manual or online help for the DDE-enabled program to
find out the correct syntax.
More blah, blah , blah
Sounds like it's for Win98 or less. not sure the date is:

You'd normally get rid of it in "File types". What file extension(s) was it
associated with? Gotta click on those, then "Edit", then check the
action(s) until you find it, then delete it. You may need to check "Drive",
"Folder" and "File Folder" in addition to the associated file extensions.

It could also be done via the registry (search for "shell") but you're
better off not doing that.

I also have ContextEdit, Version 1.2 from before they started the pay per
year thing at PC Magazine Utilties
"Ziff-Davis grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install
and use the Software in a single location on a hard disk or other storage
device, and to make a single archival copy of the Software."
It's not installed now what do I do?

Solved the problem. The program's folder remained behind with a file
'shellext.dll'. A search through the reigstry via RegEdit turned up the key
that referenced this file. Deleted the key and everything seems to be
working now.

Description:

Menuedit won't work in this case. The menu item in question is put there by
a shell extension. Somewhere there must be a dll file, left over from the
IDEA program. You must find it and get rid of it.
