Please accept my apologies if it is offensive to someone.

I am looking for graphic (files) for a presentation on computer security,
e.g., anti-virus, firewall, anti-spamming, spyware, vulnarabilities,
parental control. Spent quite some time to locate on the Internet, but to
no avail. Kindly advise/point me to wherever appropriate.

Best regards,

Doug

I don't understand your request.
What sort of graphic files were you looking for?

oh my... you're looking for pictures of these things so you can do a
presentation on computer security?

if you're looking for pictures then i think you're not the right person
to do the presentation because you obviously don't understand what they
are...

lets start off with:

virus - a program (what picture comes to mind when you think of a
program?... some things just don't lend themselves to being visualized)...

firewall - a technology for controlling the flow of traffic at network
interface boundaries... some are programs, other are physical devices
(like say a router or in some cases an entire computer)...

anti-spamming - this term doesn't even make sense... further definition
is required...

spyware - again a program...

vulnerability - a bug or oversight in a program (so it's even harder to
picture than a program)...

parental control - a preventative feature in a program (also harder to
picture than a program)...

You might find such pictures in the press sections of vendors' web sites.

Follow-ups narrowed.

To give someone a pictorial view of a virus, a drawing of a
computer monitor with a headcold is usually used. A firewall
is sometimes shown as a "traffic cop".

You could use Yahoo's image search to find some such as this:

http://www.drawshop.com/examples/ed...Virus eating the computer looking at the menu
%20programs.jpg

http://www.thegremlin.com/WARNER.BROS/16939wb.JPG

Anti-spam, maybe a sieve:

Some, such as these are copyrighted though.

Thanks for your help.

Be careful of copyright notices though. One web site which I
particularly like is Microsoft's online clipart gallery, which allows
use of images as long as they are not commercially used, read as you
don't sell them as artwork... You could find metaphor images that come
close to themes. A firewall is also shown as a red brick wall with
fire on top,

This one is a mystery to me. The fire should be on one side of the wall,
not on top of it...

Thanks, Colon!

Did that with many different combinations of keywords, but to no avail.

??? for symbolic imagery google *images* search turns up quite
appropriate hits when the search term is "firewall" or "virus" or
"spyware"...

Thats a good one :-) Depends on whether you want to burrow through the
wall or jump over it, methinks...

The symbol must have been designed by someone with no knowledge about
the original meaning of the word. If the fire gets on top of a firewall,
you are about to lose the house.
