I do, too, sometimes. It all depends on what newsgroup slave server you're
connected to at the time, Enzo.
 
Perhaps it is time to see your psychiatrist. Some brains require repair
installation from time to time and that is what psychiatrists are for!!

401038 - 400127 + 1 = 912

so, if there are 9 deletions in that range 908 would be 5 more than would
fit in the remaining 903...

Off by 5 somehow another way? Looks like there are really 14 deletions in there...

IOW I just accounted for all 912 slots (which OE can count) as 898 + 14
but 14 of those were missing so viewed that way NNTP would seem to be telling us
to somehow cram 908 messages into only 898 slots. That counting could then result
in 10 "ghosts". ; p

I much prefer accounting for phantoms--where the "estimate" can't possibly
fit within the range even if there are no deletions! ; )
