OT: File drop sites

Sorry that this is a bit OT but I'm not sure what the proper terminology
is for what I'm looking for. Can someone tell me the name of one (or
more) of those sites where you can send a large file, then send soemone
else the URL to download it. Free, of course...TIA

There is an ongoing thread on "offline storage" which has posts about using
Gmail from google for this type of thing. "Rod" posted the following...

"Personally that's what I use Gmail for. I just created an account and send
the password to my friends. Just send emails to yourself in Gmail and
everyone can access the files. 1 Gb of space, with the restriction that the
emails can'n be more than 10 Mb in size."

Thanks. I saw that after I posted my question. Very interesting but
not quite what I was after, I think (at least the use of my GMail acct).
