Some places, Mrublaster and Spybot come to mind, would like you to
'contribute' if you can. I feel like a heel not contributing but if my wife
sees anything of a software nature on the credit card, she get's upset. In
order to avoid that, and still not feel like a heel, is there anyway to
'mail 'em a check' so to speak. I live in the US, bus some of these
companies are not (I think spybot is in Germany). I remember once sending a
check to Canada, but I've always before used a credit card for other places.

Just curious what others do.

US cheques sent to Europe can be expensive to cash. Sometimes making
it hardly worth the bother of taking them to the bank. You'd do best
to contact the author concerned directly.

Maybe you should explain to your wife the benefits you get from the
software and that small donations will help insure its future.

And ask her if all of her interests are free.

Money order?

You could buy a prepaid MC or Visa card (similar to one of those phone
cards) . Use it and lose it.

Or stick some money in a PayPal account, and dole it out to
deserving donationware authors.

One option not mentioned here yet, is to send them some paper money in an
envelope. Put something like a postcard in it to make sure it's not see-
through (and the program author might like the postcard :).

If you're sending the money to a country like Germany, that should be safe
enough.

Don't use this method to send money to that Nigerian ex-president you got
that ALL-CAPS mail from though... ;-)
