OT - but the guys on this ng are always *so* helpful!

I like to have quick access to web-pages I visit frequently by
having shortcut icons on my Desktop. I do that by dragging the icon
which precedes the page address to a clear desktop area.
Usually the 'company' icon appears: eg. I've no problem with the
'BBC' from
http://news.bbc.co.uk/

However, often it's not the 'company' icon that appears: eg I can't
get the Lloyds icon from
http://www.lloydstsb.com/
When the company icon fails to appear I get instead the Internet
Explorer 'e' (if I'm using IE) or a fireball icon if I'm using Firefox -
so I have too many 'e's and fireballs on my d/t.
Why is this happening? What can I do to get the icon I want?

I have a folder I've created which contains about 200 icons. Is
there a way I can get these 'company' icons into this folder, please?

All replies appreciated.
TIA.

I just tried the other way by going to the desktop>right
click>new>shortcut>pasting in the url

Thanks, Don.
I've just resolved this. I posted my problem to uk.comp.homebuilt ,
too, and have been sorted out there.

"Jeff" pointed out to me that web-page icons are generally held at
the home page followed by /favicon.ico, so that the Lloyds icon (a black
horse) is at http://www.lloydstsb.com/favicon.ico

So I was then able to drag that icon to my icons folder and thence
using 'Change Icon' to my desktop. It's a bit more complex than that
and if you subscribe to uk.comp.homebuilt you'll see our exchanges
there.

A web site can contain an icon file called FavIcon.ico. If this file
is present in the root of the web site, it will be used. If no such
file exists, you get the default IE logo icon.
