While scanning hard drives, Norton Antivirus identified following two
viruses:

NTSecurity.ru Freeware/AckCmd/AckCmdC.exe
NTSecurity.ru Freeware/Klogger/Klogger.exe

But with Start/Search, I could not discover these two viruses on hard
drives. Am I missing somewhere?
Please advise me. TIA. Macho

Take a peek here - do your scan in safe mode without networking and with the
latest definition files.

Malware Cleaning :

It might require that you scan with more than just Norton. So there's some
free applications for you but do your scans in safe mode, as mentioned, and
with updated definitions after installing and updating some of the apps on
that page.

Download, install, update and run all of the following.

Ad-Aware

Spybot search and destroy

Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta1)

If none of the above fixes the issue then download Hijack this, run it, save
a copy of the log file and cut and paste it back here to the group so that
it can be analyzed.

You might want to take a look here for some information
concerning those files:

http://ntsecurity.nu/toolbox/

AckCmd FAQ
http://ntsecurity.nu/toolbox/ackcmd/faq.php

Klogger FAQ
http://ntsecurity.nu/toolbox/klogger/faq.php

Is it possible that NAV found those files and deleted them
already? That could explain why you are unable to locate them
on your machine.

Good luck

It looks so because both files were found to be quarantined by NAV.

That's great, but the real question is how did they get on your
computer in the first place? A quick look at the information in
those articles I posted earlier is alarming. You might want to
reassess the security measures that are currently in place on
your computer. Are you using a firewall other than the built-in
Windows XP firewall? Consider using one that monitors outbound
connections. Here are three free options:

Zone Alarm
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp

Kerio Personal Firewall
http://www.kerio.com/kpf_download.html

Sygate Personal Firewall
http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm

It might also be a good idea to visit some of the online
antivirus scanning sites to see if there's anything else
present on your computer that NAV may have missed. Here are a
few options:

http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm
