I would like to buy new computer monitor.
I am inclined to buy a 17 LCD monitor. How good is LCD monitor?
When I looked at display models, those colors in LCD do not look the same as
the conventional color CRT monitor.
I would like to hear about pros and cons of LCD monitor. Satoshi

The best thing about LCD monitors is that the diagonal measurement
is what is specified instead of losing half an inch or so. As to
color, choose the best color and contrast LCD monitor that fits best
into the particular work environment in which it is installed. That
is, beware of the lighting conditions in the store displaying them
and how the monitors are being displayed.

It's really a matter of your own preferences except for a consideration of
what kind of software you use. Most graphics programs, like AutoCAD for one,
are best ran on a CRT monitor with a fine resolution, that is, .27 mm or
less.

Lighting conditions are another consideration. Florescent, incandescent and
natural lighting all have different effects on how the screen looks, that
is, color, apparent brightness, etc.

I find my 17 inch LCD monitor much easier on the eyes that a 17 inch CRT.
However the highest resolution on the LCD is 1280 x 1068, whereas I would
have preferred something higher.

Hi Frank,

What sort of things are you doing that you require a higher res than 1280 x
1068? I only ask because I think I'll get a better idea of what I should buy
in the future. I do a lot of photography (digital & otherwise) and know the
day will come where I will need a new monitor. My original has been on the
go daily for almost 7 years. It's a 15 inch CRT. But I love the look of the
new slimline LCD's.

What's your recommendations?

TIA,

Terry

I like to have several programs visible at the same time. It makes it
easier to read from one while composing in another.
