This is a bit off topic, not a motherboard, but since it is about a
product from ASUS I put the question anyway.
I have the graphic card: ASUS Geforce4 Ti-4200 128MB. Bought last
year.
Now there have been a lot of problems last week. (I also had the same
problems about a month ago.)
Got black screens and it seems to be hard to load the start screen in
WinXP.
Sometimes it load, but slowly blinking....and never gets ready. But
the colors is good(what can be seen - just some frames).
Sometimes I can start with very few colors and then I can work with my
computer. If I then change my screen settings I got black screens.
Have tested safe mode and then the colors are better.
Have a dual boot with Win98 and in Win98 colors are ok!
First I suspected a virus but I haven't found any. Have tested with
latest updates.
At some occasions I also gets a blue screen (yes, almost like the old
Win98 days*s*) with a message:
hard error c0000415.
Learned that this error could occur if you have an ATI Radeon and the
drives are not compatible.
So I renewed my drives, tested new ones. Then I deleted my graphic
card from WinXP. Tested both old ones from CD and newest ones from
ASUS.
And then suddenly everything looked very well!!
Until next time I started windows and had all those old problems again
:-(
Is there anyone that know what could be wrong and have some solutions?
Could there be something wrong with my WinXP? At one point some weeks
ago I reinstalled WinXP and everything seemed to be better but now I
am having those difficulties again.
Or is it my graphic card? Would it be worth the effort to get another
one to test?
Right now I am running my computer with out having installed my
graphic card in Windows. WinXP starts but is no pleasure to work with
as you could understand.
Hardware error or software error?
Would be very grateful if someone could help me!!
TIA!
Regards,
Eric
