Is it just me, or does the ASUS Tech support stink, I have been trying to
obtain a RMA for my video card. I have sent 3 email, went through the web
site (half of the links are broken) and have sat on the phone, on hold for 1
hour. Am I missing something or is this common for ASUS?

My experience with RMA to ASUS was that most of
the companies selling their products are Fly-By-Nights
and really don't have the resources to do RMA
repairs. Also, they have the attitiude that most of their
products are going to kids and hackers who are pretty
destructive, and most of the RMAs are due to mis-
handling of their products. When I RMA'd several
of their mobos, they sent me a threatening email
stating that if they found that I had mishandled the
mobos, they would bill me for their services. ASUS
got into the bad Chinese capacitor thing bigtime, so
I RMA'd a bunch of those mobos, and I carefully
"tech'd" them with fingernail polish on a few ICs and
caps to ensure that they did repair or replace them.
It took several months for those mobos to return !!!
And they did replace them with the exact same
models ... which went down the exact same way
after a few months of use. ASUS makes a good
product, but their market is hacker-kids and they
know it ... thus the attitude.

Nonsense, they are know as one of the best in the market!!!!

Us techs who have been trying to replace those caps
don't know them that way. I'd be really careful about
which model mobo I got. DON'T get the ones made
about the time that capacitor scam was discovered.

Don't know if it's still the case but at one time their _major_ market was
some outfit called Hewlett-Packard. Open up a Brio and you found an ASUS
motherboard. Last I heard HP was not operated by "hacker-kids" although
they did occasionally employ them--the Apple prototype was built in HP's
labs (with HP's knowledge and Woz did get a release--HP used to encourage
that sort of thing).
