...anyone know what the difference between an

ASUS M3N78
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=149&l3=643&l4=0&model=2411&modelmenu=2
and a
ASUS M3N78-VM is ???
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=149&l3=643&l4=0&model=2268&modelmenu=1

i.e what does the "VM" stand for, ....I've been glaring at the Asus spec.s
for these boards and I'm darned if I can see any difference other than one
comes with 2 SATA leads and the other one comes with just one ! ...as if
that makes any difference !

Richard

Look at the photos on the links you provided, one
motherboard has an additional PCI slot for starters.

Also see:
http://hothardware.com/Articles/ASUS_M2AVM_HDMI/

Not only that - if you are at the right distance and stare long enough -
well - I saw the jet - did you?
*grin*

The one without the VM (looking at the specs..)
2 x PCIe x1
3 x PCI 2.2
1 x SATA cable
1 x SATA power cable

The one with the VM (looking at the specs...)
1 x PCIe x1
2 x PCI
2 x SATA cables
1 x 2-port SATA power cables

So the VM has one less PCIe x1 slot and one less PCI slot and the one with
the VM comes with one more SATA Cable and a 2-port SATA power cable.

....big thanks to all. I've looked at Asus boards several times, recently,
....

....I had previously noticed that one was ATX format and the other was mATX,

....I must have been suffering zombie syndrome when I posted,

....big thanks to all.

....having further studied the Asus M3N78 motherboards, ...I decided to go
for the "M3N78 Pro" as it has all solid aliminium capacitors, whereas the
plain "M3N78" has a few of the liquid ones !!!

Now I remember Concorde doing a victory roll at the Belfry in 1985. A
touch of magic to end a fantastic day of golf.

Too bad that the magic is no more, sad day for all.
It they were still flying, fuel cost would have killed it
sooner or later.

OOOOooooh! someone mentioned the Concorde -
....oh my GOD !!!! how JEALOUS were the Americans of the Concorde, .....THEY
WERE RADIOACTIVE GREEN ....with TOTAL envy :-)
....if you remember, it was initially banned from landing at Kennedy?
airport, ..I think it was that airport.

....btw, it appears that the Americans are also responsible for the current
worldwide financial problems, i.e. they undermined the worlds' fiscal
structures with the sub-prime mortgage fiasco.
....quite what the 6,000 odd employees at the UKs' F.S.A. were doing at the
time, (that the Americans were sneaking sub-prime / bad debts into the
worlds portfolios), goodness only knows ! :-)
