I'm posting this off topic on this n.g. since I'm on a fishing
expedition. Cable and DSL users please take a look at this page I put
up:

http://home.epix.net/~artnpeg/fix-dns.html

My purpose is twofold. I'd like to help others who have run into the
problem. I'd also like to find someone who knows more about this arena
than I do so I can do some brain picking.

I'm somewhat at a loss as to where to post. I did post on a DSL forum
and a cable n.g. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Setting a fixed IP address in a DHCP controlled network is not correct. If
your ISP reconfigures the network you might loose Internet connectivity or
worse be using someone elses IP address that has been assigned dynamically.
The first problem is easy to diagnose and fix but the second is really hard
to diagnose.

If your ISP is having DNS problems then try BIND-LE.
