ost to pst format

Hello,
I'm using outlook 2007 and after a bizarre series of events including the
installation and removal of internet connector (by a "friend" of mine) all
of my e-mails are now in an ost file and I want to put them back into my pst
file.

Is there a piece of simple free-ware that does this or I have to pay
hundreds of dollars for the pleasure?

Any advice gladly received.

If you can open Outlook offline and access the messages, then you can create
a PST and copy the data to it. You don't provide enough details of exactly
what you see while in Outlook to determine what you can and cannot do.
